The icons and images found in this singular rug collection are symbols and hieroglyphs derived from Katie Merz’s 2019 large wall mural commission for the main lobby of Building 11 at Brooklyn’s historic Navy Yard. Among the various elements included in the mural and reinterpreted for the rugs are events, ship’s names, ship’s logs, workers, buildings, naval blueprints and other significant locational details. Power-loomed using 100% polyester yarns.
